How do automatic watches work?

An automatic watch uses a rotor, or metal weight, to power the timepiece. The rotor swings freely within a watch and every time the wearer moves the wrist the rotor spines to produce wind, this wind moves to make energy through the movement of the mainspring. Automatic watches that are worn regularly power themselves and automatic watches last between 40-45 hours.
